Make Sure You Get Counted, Lawrence County – Part 2!

According to Mr. James Pauley Barker, 2020 Census Count Committee Chair for Lawrence County, Kentucky, it is not too late for you to participate in the 2020 Census Count.    You have until August 31, 2020, to make your voice heard.   When you speak, via the Census 2020, you are contributing to your community to determine how many representatives our state can send to Congress, how many federal dollars our area can procure for Drug and Alcohol Abuse programs, Child and Adult Care Food Programs, Local Law Enforcement Block Grants, and even how many teachers we have in our schools!    In 2016, Kentucky received more than $15 billion dollars from federal spending programs guided by data that was derived from the 2010 Census!

As of this writing, Kentucky has a 63.63% response rate.  Lawrence County, Kentucky’s response rate is 56.9%.   Kentucky’s final response rate in 2010 was 65.7%.   In 2010, 64.0% of Lawrence Countians completed the Census. 

There are four ways to respond to the Census 2020.  

#1 – Respond online – Go to 2020Census.gov.   It only takes a very few minutes and you can use your computer, tablet or smartphone using the unique ID number your received in the mail. 

#2 – Respond by telephone – You may call the Census Bureau at 1-844-330-2020.   These telephone lines are open every day from 7:00 am until 2:00 am.  

#3 – Respond by Mail – If you have not previously responded as late as July, you will receive a prepaid postage paper in the mail to complete and return. 

#4 – Respond in person – If you have not responded by August, 2020, the Census Bureau will send an employee to your home to get your responses I person.
