Due to yesterday evening's storm, which left debris on roads and caused power outages, Lawrence County KY Schools will operate on a 1-hour delay today, Monday, August 17. Because our buses start early in the morning, this delay allows daylight for drivers and emergency teams to safely evaluate road conditions. Please travel safely. LC Schools receives the WHAS Crusade for Children Grant!

LC Schools has been selected to receive a $10,000 Grant Award for the 2026-2027 WHAS Crusade for Children! This generous grant will be used to support sensory-support classrooms, enabling children with unique abilities to unlock their full potential and lead lives filled with endless possibilities!

Mrs. Jamie Russell, LC Schools Director of Special Education & Preschool,
shared her excitement, saying, “We are truly grateful to the WHAS Crusade for Children for its support.
This grant will provide much-needed sensory supports that will help our students feel safe, regulated, and
ready to learn!”

The WHAS letters represent the call signs of WHAS-TV, a radio and television station located in Louisville, KY. Established in 1954, this annual charitable campaign serves as a public mission dedicated to raising funds for children with special needs, as well as addressing their health care, educational, and emotional wellness needs. LC Schools is grateful for their generosity and commitment to supporting the needs of children within our school system.

Tomorrow, Wednesday, August 12th, marks the BIG day when we warmly welcome our students back to LC Schools! As the new school year begins throughout our district, students, teachers, and families are set to start on a fresh journey filled with new classes and exciting goals for learning and growth together!

Whether you are joining us for the first time or returning, welcome home. School begins this Wednesday, August 12 for students in grades K-12. Preschool begins August 26. Please be extra patient during these first days as we get into routine with bus routes and student drop off and pick up. Safety is priority, and things will smooth out quickly as everyone settles in. We are so excited to see our students back in our classrooms and hallways this week! We look forward to Wednesday, August 12 at 7:15 when are doors open back up to our students. Please remember, our day begins at 7:50am. and dismissal begins at 2:55pm.

Power is back on at LC Board Office and Louisa Middle. Phone and internet up, but still random issues due to the earlier outage. Be patient if trying to reach our school offices. If you get a busy signal, please retry later or call our central office at 606-638-9671. Thank you.

Louisa Middle School and Lawrence County Board Office are currently without power. It is part of a larger outage also impacting the hospital and homes nearby. Our other schools all have power, but phones and internet are down at all of our buildings district wide. If you need to reach someone in our district, please come to the Board Office or one of the school offices. We will give an update once power has been restored. Thank you.

LC Schools is sharing the 26-27At-A-Glance School Calendar for our scheduled holidays and breaks to help our parents and guardians navigate the school year! Please save these dates and mark your calendars to help plan regular dental and doctor appointments, along with family trips.

We are also sharing our updated attendance policies! Please take a moment to read the 26-27 LC School Attendance Policy! New for the 26-27 school year: After (10) medical excuses, the Medical Excuse Form MUST be completed and approved to receive additional medical excuses.
