Best of luck to the boys and girls soccer teams this week, as they play in the 2A Section 8 Tournament hosted by Johnson Central. The LCHS boys team competes tonight, Tuesday, August 26th at 7 PM against the Johnson Central. The LCHS girls will play on Thursday, August 28th at 8:20 PM, also against Johnson Central. Save the Date! The Blaine Elementary School is hosting the 2nd Annual Heritage Day! This amazing event will be held on Thursday, October 9th from 9 AM-2 PM! If you or someone you know may be interested in setting up a demonstration station for students to learn about our Appalachian culture, heritage, and traditions please call the school at 606-826-3624. This event is FREE and features a variety of stations including: biscuit making, farming, beekeeping, bluegrass music, stringing beans, shucking corn, and much more! The Lawrence County High School golf team participated in the KY 2A Section 8 Tournament held at the Stone Crest Golf Course in Prestonsburg, KY, on Monday, August 18th. In the LCHS girls' golf category, Abby Runyon achieved a score of 96, tying her for 4th place. For the LCHS boys' golf team, Reece Hughes finished the day in 7th place.

Congratulations to LCHS alumni, Natalie Hill, a 2017 graduate of LCHS. Natalie graduated on August 15, 2025, from Ohio Southern with an Associates Degree in Nursing. She previously earned her Bachelor's Degree in Parks and Recreation from Eastern Kentucky University. In September, she will take the NCLEX to obtain certification as a Registered Nurse. Natalie proudly states, " I’m a proud graduate of Lawrence County Schools and owe my strong foundation to my elementary, middle and high school teachers! "

There’s been a fire on Powhatan Street. Louisa East is not impacted, but buses can’t reach their usual drop-off. Bus riders will be dropped off at Louisa middle school, then transported to East after school begins. Parent drop-off will continue as normal. Thank you for your understanding.

The LCHS Bulldogs football team will scrimmage the Prestonsburg Blackcats on Friday, August 15th at LVJR Memorial Field beginning at 7:30 PM. Ticket prices are $5 for adults and $3 for students. The teams will play in a game format, with three quarters of varsity action, and the fourth quarter featuring the junior varsity. Come out and enjoy some LC Bulldog football!

Congratulations to the Lawrence County School Food Service! We would like to express our heartfelt congratulations to the Lawrence County School food service for their successful 2025 summer feeding program! A special shout-out goes to Mrs. Farley, the LC Food Service Director, and the dedicated kitchen staff throughout the district for their relentless commitment that made this achievement possible. The summer feeding stations were set up at: Blaine Elementary, Fallsburg Elementary, Lawrence County High School. We are also thankful to the families who joined us and participated, playing a vital role in making this initiative a tremendous success!

Also this Friday, August 8, 2025 all Lawrence County employees will take part in a Lunch and Learn at the LCHS gym, beginning at 11:40 am. We will enjoy a delicious lunch sponsored by Pathways, discuss our district goals for the year, and give away some prizes. Plan to be there, and wear your favorite Wildcat, Dragon, or Bulldog gear. Let's celebrate the start of a new school year together.

The LCHS football team invites you to an exciting evening of scrimmages on LVJR Memorial Field, featuring your LC Bulldogs, Russell Independent, and Johnson Central on Friday, August 8th, starting at 6 PM!
