She was awarded a full ride to college by applying and being selected to receive the Diederich Scholarship! Congratulations to LCHS alumni, Mary Spears, a 2016 graduate of LCHS. Mary is a 2025 graduate of Marshall University with a Master's Degree in Business Administration and concentration in Human Resources Management. She obtained her Bachelor's Degree from Marshall University in 2023 with a major in Psychology and a minor in Communication Studies, Spanish, and Management. Mary is currently employed as the Human Resources Director of Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Lakeview in Elizabethtown, Kentucky.

Congratulations to LCHS alumni, Heather Arrington Fannin, a 2006 graduate of LCHS and a student of Louisa East and Middle Schools. Heather is a 2014 graduate of Morehead State University. She 2025 is also a recent graduate of Grand Canyon University, earning a Master's Degree in Early Childhood and Early Childhood Special Education. Heather is currently teaching at the Sciotoville Community Schools in Portsmouth, OH. She teaches K-5 music and reading intervention. Congratulations to LCHS alumni, Adam Dennison, a 2021 graduate of LCHS. Adam is a 2025 graduate of Morehead State University with a Bachelor Degree in Criminal Justice. He is commissioning into the US Army as a Second Lieutenant and is currently completing Chem BOLOC at Fr. Leonard Wood, Missouri.

Exciting Announcement! Congratulations to Mrs. Angel Derfield on being selected as the new Principal of Louisa East Elementary School! Mrs. Derfield has dedicated 13 years in the classroom, teaching 4th and 5th grades. Last year, she transitioned into administration by serving as the Assistant Principal at Louisa East. In her own words, Mrs. Derfield stated, “I am honored to be chosen as the Principal at Louisa East Elementary School for the upcoming school year. Louisa East is my home and family, and I am grateful to be part of this special team. Mr. Dixon cannot be replaced, but I hope to continue what he has set in motion. I am a proud Bulldog alumni and am excited to keep serving the students and families at the EAST.” We warmly welcome Mrs. Derfield to her new position and are confident she will lead the East to achieve amazing accomplishments!

Over the years, these middle school teachers and students have developed a strong bond. Meal pickup locations include Blaine Elementary School, Fallsburg Elementary School, and Lawrence County High School.
