LCHS: AP Environmental Science Class learns about biomes!

The LCHS Advanced Placement Environmental (APES) Science class recently learned about biomes through fun activities, such as Dress as Your Biome Day and Biome Speed Dating.  Biomes are geographic regions characterized by specific climates, plants, and animal life.  Each APES student chose a biome to represent. During the speed-dating round, the "biomes" exchanged information in a 1-minute, 30-second time frame, focusing on the most important aspects of their biome.  At the end, the class voted for the biome they thought was the best represented.  Senior, Kelsey Vance, representing the Savanna Biome, was selected as the winner!  The biome costumes were fantastic, and all students represented the biomes well!

We are shining the spotlight on our LCHS Softball Coach, Sam Sparks! Congratulations to Coach Sparks, who was recently named the NFHS Softball Coach of the Year! Last year, the Lady Bulldogs had a phenomenal season that ended in the Final Four of the state tournament! Did we mention that this was also his first year as head coach? Coach Sparks remains modest in accepting the award. He shared, "I am very humbled to say the least. This award reflects outstanding players, a super coaching staff, terrific administrative support, and a tremendous community. Honored to be a small part of Lawrence County Softball."
