Louisa East Elementary

At our Board of Education meeting last week, the LC Board set the new property tax rate at 62.0 cents for every $100 of property value. This is a small increase (from 58.9), which comes to about $31 more per year for a home valued at $100,000. This small increase is important because it makes the Lawrence County school buildings eligible to receive matching funds from the state for use on facilities. Only 0.1 cents of the increase is recallable, which would be about $1 for every $100,000 of assessed property value for a year. If this amount were to be recalled, LC would not receive those matching funds from the state to use on school buildings.

Tuesday, 09/02- red, white, and blue day- dress in your favorite USA colored clothing.
Wednesday, 09/03- Wacky Wednesday or mismatch day- dress up in miss matched clothes, wacky socks, funny hat (all school appropriate).
Thursday, 09/03- Pajama day- dress in your favorite pajamas.

We will be posting about an attendance incentive for this coming week that we think the students will really like!

We are already building up a collection of jackets and sweatshirts in our lost and found. Please send your child to grab theirs if you recognize anything.

Good luck to our girls' basketball team as they travel to Blaine Elementary tonight. C-team tip off is scheduled for 5:30 and then B-team right after.

There’s been a fire on Powhatan Street. Louisa East is not impacted, but buses can’t reach the usual drop-off. Bus riders will be dropped off at the middle school, then transported to East after school begins. Parent drop-off will continue as normal. Thank you for your understanding.

Congratulations to the Lawrence County School Food Service! We would like to express our heartfelt congratulations to the Lawrence County School food service for their successful 2025 summer feeding program! A special shout-out goes to Mrs. Farley, the LC Food Service Director, and the dedicated kitchen staff throughout the district for their relentless commitment that made this achievement possible. The summer feeding stations were set up at: Blaine Elementary, Fallsburg Elementary, Lawrence County High School. We are also thankful to the families who joined us and participated, playing a vital role in making this initiative a tremendous success!
