LC Schools congratulates Mrs. Christy Moore, currently a LC District Resource Teacher, Middle/High and CTE Coordinator, as she begins her retirement after 27 years of service with LC Schools.
- LCHS Math teacher: 10 Years
- FES 6-8 math and reading: 2 Years
- LCHS assistant principal: 2 Years
- LCHS Principal: 9 Years
- District Resource Teacher/CTE Coordinator- 4 Years
Mrs. Moore shares, "It has been a distinct honor to serve the students, families, and staff of Lawrence County Schools for the past 27 years. My journey through this district has been defined by a passion for academic excellence and a commitment to fostering growth at every level.
"My career has been a testament to the belief that education is a collective effort. Whether I was teaching math, leading as a principal, or coordinating CTE programs to prepare our students for the modern workforce, my guiding principle has remained unchanged. I have approached every role with the mindset: "I am not here for ME; I am here for WE—and WE are there for THEM."
"Throughout my tenure, my goal has been to provide every student with the resources, guidance, and inspiration they need to reach their full potential. It has been the privilege of a lifetime to contribute to the legacy of Lawrence County, ensuring that our students are prepared not just for graduation, but for life."
We thank Mrs. Moore for her years of dedication to our LC students! Thank you for the countless ways you've touched so many lives, made a difference, and shaped futures. You will be greatly missed throughout our school district. We hope this next chapter will be filled with joy and relaxation. Enjoy your retirement! #LCisHome

Ms. Ward came to LC Schools in October 2014. She began her work at LC Schools as the guidance counselor at Blaine Elementary School. She shares, "At the beginning of the 2018-2019 School year, I had the opportunity to move to Louisa West. In May of 2021, I was given the opportunity to move to Louisa Middle School. Throughout my time in Lawrence County, I have had the privilege of working in several schools, each with its own unique culture, yet all united by a common purpose—doing what is best for kids. No matter the building, the mission remained the same: to support, guide, and uplift every student who walked through our doors."
"One belief has always guided my work: to treat every child the way I would want my own children to be treated—or even better. Our students deserve compassion, respect, patience, and unwavering support, and I have been proud to work alongside colleagues who share that same commitment each and every day.
"After 12 rewarding years as a Guidance Counselor with Lawrence County Schools, I am announcing my retirement with a full heart and deep gratitude. Serving the students, families, and staff of this community has been one of the greatest honors of my professional life.
"Throughout my time here, I have had the privilege of supporting students through some of their most important and challenging moments—helping them grow academically, socially, and emotionally. Watching students discover their strengths, overcome obstacles, and move forward with confidence has been truly inspiring and remains the most meaningful part of my career.
"I am especially thankful for the relationships built along the way. The collaboration with dedicated educators, supportive families, and hardworking students has made each day purposeful and fulfilling. Together, we have worked to create a positive and supportive environment where all students can succeed.
"As I step into this next chapter, I carry with me many cherished memories and a lasting appreciation for the Lawrence County community. I am proud of the work we have accomplished and confident that the future will continue to be bright for the students we serve. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of this journey. "
We thank Ms. Ward for her many years of dedication to the students at LC Schools. You have provided students the courage to believe in themselves and the tools to navigate through life's challenges. Thank you for helping students find their path. Enjoy this wonderful next chapter! Happy retirement! #LCisHome
