Due to the weather forecast from the National Weather Service for heavy rains, potential flooding, and high winds for tomorrow (between midnight and 6:00 pm) Lawrence County is going to utilize NTI Day 1 for Friday, September 27th, 2024.

LC Schools sends their well wishes to our student, Gunner Stepp, a 5th-grade student from Blaine Elementary, who recently had a life-saving liver transplant. We invite the community to send Gunner get-well mail as he continues to heal at Cincinnati Children's Hospital!

FES is implementing a new and exciting enrichment program called Genius Hour! Students excelling in their studies and, with teachers' recommendation, are promoted to the program. The students work on a research-based project on a topic related to their interests!

Best of luck to the LCHS girls' and boys' golf teams as they compete on Monday and Tuesday in regional competitions! The boys compete at Eagle Trace in Morehead, KY, and the girls compete at Indian Hills in Mt. Sterling, with tee time set at 9 AM!

LMS and LCHS were visited by Morehead State University's Craft Academy representative, Mr. Jeremy Webb. The Craft Academy offers qualifying students the chance to live on MSU's campus during their junior and senior years, while providing a unique environment for personal growth and academic excellence. Blaine Elementary School hosted its annual Grandparent's Day celebration! Mrs. Tina Bevins, the FRYSC coordinator, planned the festive event! Attendees were served sweet baked goods and iced coffees. The LCPL supplied the picture frame craft activities!

The LC KY Farm Bureau Bowl Game is set with Lawrence County vs Harlan County on Homecoming night, Friday, September 20th, with tip-off at 7:30 PM! The first 100 LC students get into the game for free! Students can also enter their names at the KY Farm Bureau tent to win one of two $50 gift cards! The homecoming court will be introduced, and the Homecoming Queen will be crowned at halftime! Come out and support the Bulldogs!
The LCHS Carpentry students are selling Picket Fence Pumpkins, made from repurposed wood. LCHS junior Emily Moore is leading the class on this project. All proceeds go to the carpentry program as funding for continued projects! Prices vary by style.

Louisa West Elementary School has experienced success with the Really Great Reading program over the last several years! The program provides an interactive experience with students, allowing them to stay on task and enhance their reading skills.

Louisa East Elementary introduces its girls' basketball coach, Ms. Sturgell! She loves basketball and hopes to provide her players with a fun and beneficial experience. She discusses how participation in sports may help foster positive attributes in students.

LCHS hosted its 3rd annual Hall of Fame ceremony, inducting eight new members! The evening was filled with memories of these outstanding athletes, along with their many accomplishments. We thank the inductees, their families, and all who attended the event!

We appreciate the quick response from law enforcement to investigate the situation at LMS. Students were placed in modified class lockdown (students remain in class behind locked doors and instruction continues with heightened alert). The entire school has been cleared by law enforcement. Students are back to normal schedule.
