February is Career & Technical Education Month! The spotlight is on the Pre-Nursing program, where students work to perfect their nursing skills using their new nursing manikins. Ms. Adams also coordinates with the KY Blood Center for regular blood drives!

LC FFA has had a very busy week! They attended the LC Fiscal Court, where a proclamation was signed by Judge Executive, Phillip Carter, proclaiming the week as National FFA Week! Lawrence County FFA is always active throughout the community!

In February, we are celebrating our Career & Technical Education programs! Our CTE programs have great teachers, who are dedicated to the success of their students! Attention! The LC Foodservice would like to notify our families that there has been a menu change for lunch on Red Monday. The menu will now include chicken nuggets or corn dogs, mac and cheese, spinach salad with a choice of dressing, sliced cucumbers, and choice of a fruit and milk.

Louisa Middle School's, Project Lead the Way, sixth-grade students recently spent lab time on an experiment with E.coli bacteria. The students used three different antibiotics to determine which had the greatest effect on the bacteria.

LCHS Environmental Science class recently spent time in their lab, working to create biodiesel fuel from vegetable oil. They are studying a unit on energy and will continue by studying solar, wind, and other energy sources.

All LC Schools will be participating in a friendly, county-wide attendance contest beginning Monday, Feb 19th, which will run for the next 4 weeks! The contest will be based on the attendance percentage of each school. A "traveling trophy" will be presented each week to the winning school, along with bragging rights! Let's have fun with this! Remember...Attendance Matters!

Today, February 15th is School Resource Officer (SRO) Appreciation Day! LC Schools is privileged to have Officer Musick as our SRO. We thank him for all of his service, support, and dedication to our students and schools! Not only is he present in our schools throughout the day, but he also attends athletic functions in the evenings! Let him know you appreciate him, next time you see him out!

We had some flash flooding last night, but road conditions have improved tremendously since.
We will have a 4 or 5 roads that our buses cannot travel this morning.
