This message is for students who have submitted applications for the holdback year related to SB128 ONLY.
If your student has hopes of competing at the Division 1 level after he/she graduates from high school, there is a strong possibility that staying back in school during their high school years COULD impact their eligibility at the college level.
If your high school student-athlete has hopes of playing at the Division 1 level and your student plans to "hold back" next year, you should call the NCAA Customer Service line at 1-877-262-1492 to ask about his/her eligibility.
If your students has been contacted by a Division 1 coach or representative already, you should ask what impact would "holding back" during the high school years would have on your student's eligibility, also.
You SHOULD NOT ask local school officials or high school coaches about this. All answers concerning NCAA eligibility should come from NCAA representatives or from NCAA-affiliated coaches.
We have been receiving NEW INFORMATION about potential issues in the past two days. We have been advised to direct all parents/guardians to the NCAA Customer Service for questions concerning potential D1 athletes who opt to "hold back" during their high school years.

An accident involving a trailer tire and three students occurred at Fallsburg Elementary School at approximately 3 PM today. Two classes of students were returning from having math class outside when a wheel broke from a trailer that was being hauled north on Route 3. The wheel crossed two lanes of road, the ditch, and the ridge by the school sidewalk. Subsequently, the tire struck the school building then ricocheted to contact three students. One of the students was flown to Cabell Hospital due to his injuries. According to first responders, thankfully, he was responsive and talking with those providing care while being transported.

On April 13, 2021, ALL 10th graders will take the ACT test. This is a wonderful opportunity for 10th graders to become familiar with the test before taking the state-required Junior ACT test next school year. Any student who is currently enrolled as a 10th grade student in Lawrence County High School, whether they are on Option 1 or Option 2 may participate. 10th graders should expect a phone contact from the high school with more details as time is closer. Students coming to school to test on that day will be required to follow the Safe at School Protocol for Covid set forth by the KY Department for Health.
Any 10th grade student who would like to practice in preparation for the ACT test may find the online resources provided at https://www.act.org/content/act/en/products-and-services/the-act/test-preparation/free-act-test-prep.html
